City of Ashes has expanded on and added a few more characters that are sure to be interesting. The Lightwood parents are finally introduced to Clary, as well as a few more Underworlders. Certain parts would've been more surprising if people online hadn't posted spoilers so blatantly. Nonetheless I kept reading.

I think I like the series, its not unbearably teen, but also not explicit like many fantasy/scifi books (intended for a 18+ audience). Clare has found a good spot, in the aftermath of the end of Harry Potter and in the rise of the "omg its a popular teen book let's make it into a movie" that's taking over Hollywood. I intend to finish the series, and recommend it to a few friends for a fun summer read.

Also, I'll choose to ignore that scene where Jace was like "We can just be together in secret" cause like, dude, that's your sister right there. Eww. Yikesssss

thanks god I watched the TV series before, so ik they're not actually siblings but like still atp they believe they are so it still irked me. Alosexual people smh 🙄😭
I like that the TV series erased that specific part and just made them be what they are in the series. Not trying to get together.
