An interesting premise, but sadly the execution was lacking in depth. I wanted the ideas around the spite house and the returned to be way more fleshed out. The haunted house element was good but there were so many other details introduced then never really explored. The pacing was also pretty uneven which was jarring in places.

I loved this. It took a while to build up, but the plot was interesting.

Although I felt the ending was missing something, Johnny Compton knows how to puts words in front of each other and I eagerly await for whatever he does next.

I don’t know entirely how I feel about this one, but I do know that the prose was wonderful, the atmosphere was brilliant and
Eunice
had it coming.

Overall it was engaging and had me thinking a lot, but it felt a bit convoluted at times as though it had a lot of different plot lines it wanted to explore in too short amount of time.

It also does a good job of giving you flawed characters that have you questioning if you support them or not.

It was a fine book. It took a long time to get where it was going- there wasn't enough info for well over a hundred pages and then a big info dump. There were enough time jumps and perspective shifts that I had some difficulty keeping track.
