My opinion: this book is ok. There's nothing wrong with it but it's not excellent. I feel like when you're going to have an ex's dad romance it needs to be excellent in some regard to make up for the awkwardness you get everywhere else but unfortunately this doesn't manage that. The only time this is close to being excellent is before they know who they are to each other. That is nearly perfect. The banter, the attraction, the who gives an F that he's 20 years older. All of that is there. But as soon as Noah recognizes his last name as her ex-boyfriend's dad then those things start to feel more forced. Don't get me wrong, this book has its moments and I'm considering continuing on with the series, I just wish this one was better. Especially since the blurb pulled me in so much.

The chemistry, tension and friendship in this book! I loved reading about Noah and Fisher fall in love. Here with me is the first book in The Sugarland Creek series. This book focuses on Noah Hollis, she’s a successful horse trainer. She’s got spunk and very much will go after what she wants. The book starts off immediately with her making her moves on a guy she noticed at a Rodeo. This is Fisher, he has been hired by Noah’s dad to be the new farrier at their ranch. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was funny, heartwarming and just like coming home. I loved the forbidden relationship aspect in this book as Noah and Fisher get to know one another and figure out how to make this work. They feel the passion and spark immediately. I loved the aspect with Noah’s brothers and their banter. The friendship between Noah and Magnolia is amazing and love seeing these two interact.

Oh does this one hit you hard with the feels out the gate then rolls with all the punches! But the spicy connection between Fisher and Noah. Between the fact that there is unknown history between these two and how this story all played out. It was raw and emotional with intense moments. I really enjoyed Noah’s character as well. She is fierce and sassy and doesn’t hold back. Regardless if the industry thinks she is too young, she continues to prove them wrong. Then you add Fisher and that whole insanity, things go to another level which gives a great storyline.

Don’t get me wrong, it had me entertained for a good chunk of the time. It was just missing something. Maybe it was the insta-love that put me off from rating it higher.

The spice was good, funny banter. I love texts convos in books for sure. The whole book takes place over a 2 month span, so there was a lot packed into it. Ex boyfriends dad is a fun troupe. I for sure want to learn more about her brothers.

I did like that grandma through everyone for a wrench with her and grandpas story

For many reasons, these two are forbidden. For starters, Noah used to date Fisher’s son, Jase, and Fisher doesn’t have a good relationship with Jase, so Noah is very hesitant to add to the turmoil between their father-son relationship. There’s also the no fraternizing policy that the ranch has in place to keep any drama out of the workplace. Despite everything against them, they have undeniable chemistry that isn’t easy to ignore.

This had me feeling all the feels, and it hit me deeper than I was expecting. This book just jumps right into the hard stuff, especially with the prologue (there’s a TW from the author in regards to the prologue that you may want to check out). Fisher’s tragic past had him making some choices that he deeply regrets, and he’s trying his damndest to be the family man that he couldn’t be before. I truly admired his strong desire to make amends with his son.

Daddy Fisher was everything. He had a beautiful way with words when it came to expressing his feelings for Noah. Thinking back throughout the book, he never showed anything but unconditional love for Noah. He never showed anger or selfishness when it came to her following her dreams or being independent. I fell in love with the way he wholeheartedly takes care of her physically when she’s not able to herself.

Fisher was adorably nervous around Noah at first. He was enamored with her beauty but also a bit surprised by how bold and brazen she was. I personally loved how unafraid and unashamed she was to speak her mind. And she’s a take charge woman, especially when it comes to the ranch. I appreciated her emotional maturity and thought it helped even things out a bit with the age gap.

I’m invested in this family already and this is only book one! I can’t wait to read about all the other siblings and how each one falls for their HEA.
