Love is for Losers is a bit of marmite read, you either love it or you just won't connect with it because of the writing style.
The setting of the story in a charity shop makes for some interesting characters, but these were over shadowed by the main protagonists attitude which was very negative about everything and everyone she encountered. It took awhile to warm up to her but when you do you begin to understand why she is like she is.

Spoiler The book touches on teenage crushes and adjusting to life with a mostly absent mother who is off doing medical work war-torn countries.

It  touches a bit on working out one's identity throughout the teenage years.

Phoebe can sometimes be unforgiving  and whereas I somewhat enjoyed Phoebe's commentary on life, the story felt a bit  dragged. I felt like the ending was a bit rushed. There was also predictable  nature to the book,  that somewhat detracted from the overall story.

I was looking for something quick and light to read on a gloomy afternoon, and this was the perfect book. It was written very well for young adults, and though I am (slightly) above that age bracket, I still found myself moved by the story.

I saw a lot of myself in the main character (who works in a charity shop in London, spends a lot of time in chain cafes and is trying to figure herself out). The character development was good, the author has created relatable and mostly likeable characters.

For a YA book, I found that it dealt with fairly complex themes rather than being pure romance, and I found myself shedding a few tears throughout.

Positives

- cats
- charity shops
- cute romance
- real friendships

Overall a great read!
