BB Blaque has done it again with her 5th book Chemicals and Hormones from her Royal Bastards MC: NYC Chapter series. BB Blaque is the only author I've ever read that has a character I know I'm supposed to hate, I mean any woman really but just like the women in the book but I can't. BB and this series just draw me in unlike any I've known. And if you've read any book in this series you know I'm talking about The Bishop, his Excellency.
The last book left us off with Calico having to be saved by Bishop and his brothers in Florida when his son took her. At the end of that book, The Bishop decided to make her his Ol' Lady and now it's Christmas. The Bishop is someone you want to hate but can't. He's a rapist, a sadist, and can absolutely feel no emotions or so he thinks. And Calico is a woman who has been through so much. She is The Bishop's slave, yes they live in a world of BDSM 24/7, and you would think by her being a slave she's weak and just follows orders. But Calico is one of the strongest women I've ever read about. Her inner strength shines so bright, considering everything she's gone through in her life. For Christmas Bishop wants to learn how to show that he loves Calico even if he can't feel it. He blames love on chemicals and hormones and he knows they don't stay around forever so what happens when they wear off? He seeks out help from a psychiatrist and Tana happens to also be in the BDSM world as a sub and falls quickly under his spell. What the Bishop doesn't know is that Tana is in trouble with the Bloody Scorpions MC and is feeding them information. The Bloody Scorpions want Brooklyn for themselves and the Bastards gone but who are they working with that wants The Bishop? After confessing all his truths to Calico for Christmas it all comes to a head at his annual New Year's Eve Masquerade ball. Who is after Bishop and what do they want? Is Sage really happy to hand over Calico to The Bishop and bow out gracefully?
I gave this book a 4-star rating and enjoyed it so much. Parts of it were hard to read and this book does have a lot of triggers that might affect some people. And I gave it a 5 spicy rating. The book is so steamy I haven't been able to look roses the same since I started the series. This book takes place in a BDSM world that meets the MC world. It's different than the other chapters in the Royal Bastards series. I recommend this book to anyone who likes BDSM or MC series but I warn it's not for the faintest of hearts. BB Blaque I commend you for writing a character that should be hated by the world but is respected among the best. I can't wait to see where this series goes especially with talk of crossing over another MC and The Bishop finally being an official Royal Bastard.
