Emerson's misogyny comes back - understandable yet unfortunate. However, it does get amended by the end, bless the heavens, and he once again drinks that sweet drink of Respect Peabody juice. Peabody is amazing as always and I strive to be her.

The amnesia plot was so soap opera when I first read the synopsis of the book. I literally groaned at it, but when I got to that bit, it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be.
While it did take me months to get through the first 120-ish pages or so, once I hit that mark I finished the rest of the book within hours.
It was really slow in the beginning, but I'm glad I stuck through it because, overall, it was a good book.

This one recaptured the magic of the first book. I’m appreciating more and more the development of time throughout the series and how they grow as characters

One of my favorite audio books, I have listened to this book many times over. Barbara Rosenblat is Amelia Peabody to me. This book has Amelia and Emerson in Egypt without Ramses and Nefret. Emerson is kidnapped, rescued by Amelia, loses his memory, Sethos impersonates Cyrus and is just generally ridiculous, thus an enjoyable way to spend a few hours.

Since I always like Amelia Peabody books, I went into this one completely blind, without even reading the plot synopsis on the back. This paid off for me, as the twist about 1/3 of the way through took me completely by surprise. A wonderfully plotted mystery as always.
