I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book as I tend to find 'Why Choose?' novels are a bit hit or miss. I really, really enjoyed this story though. It was incredibly well paced, and there wasn't any part where I felt like the story was losing its momentum. I liked the characters well enough, although it took me much longer than I care to admit to distinguish the three guys from one another.

I did feel that this was more like a prequel story, as there are still so many threads that need to be unravelled. I also cannot take the word 'engorged' seriously. It reminds me of that scene in '10 Things I Hate About You' and it really threw me off my game - BUT that's just personal preference.

I think it’s safe to say I’m super late to reading this series. Tate James put something in these pages and I couldn’t get enough! And that cliffhanger ending??

This is one of those books where I feel like you need to go in blind. And, although the character Madison Kate can be a little juvenile at times, there’s just something in the way James writes that kept me hooked and wanting more? This was a page-turner and I need to know what happens next!

What you can expect:
🤨Suspense
🖤a dark, bully romance
🔫Mafia/gang
❤️‍🔥Reverse Harem
🌶️Spice

There are too many triggers to mention, so please check content warnings before picking this up!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the complimentary e-arc in exchange for an honest review. All opinions in this review are my own.

no thoughts, just vibes ✨

to be fair, I read this extremely fast and it put me in a great reading mood. So for that alone, I’m appreciative. Plus, I’ve heard so much about it, I HAD TO finally start the series.

If you’ve never read a RH before, then I think it’s a good place to start; it has tension, suspense, funny moments, steamier moments. It has a bit of everything and it’s not overwhelming. So it’s pretty easy to follow! Loved the cliffhanger, it made me pick up the second one immediately. Thank goodness for KU honestly.

I’ve read quite a few RH stories but I still managed to enjoy this one. I mean…is it realistic? Nah, but it’s cool lmao. And I had a fab time reading about gang wars and young people who shouldn’t be that rich out of nowhere. The drama was entertaining too - the revenge plot things were a tad bit childish sometimes tbh but the vibes were immaculate.

P.S: Top guy in this book for me is probably Steele ✨

I absolutely loved this!!!
Great start into the series; I am one hundred percent intrigued to read more after that cliffhanger ending!
Though this book reminds you of your typical dark college reverse harem romance, for me, it’s so much more than that. The story is dark but in a unique way. The atmosphere of some scenes reminded me of “Corrupt” by Penelope Douglas and though I have to admit that I really did not like “Corrupt”, I love the way the atmosphere was used in “Hate“.

I already read the Kit Davenport series by Tate James and anticipated reading more by this author. The Madison Kate series seems to be exactly what I’m looking for right now and I’ll immediately read the next book!
