What a quick read! I loved trying to figure out both stories past and present. The characters were interesting too. I can’t wait to get straight into the next book.

I loved this book!! It’s one of my holy grails.

If you’re looking for a quick, easy read, I would recommended this. It’s a mystery type novel revolving around a man who lost his family from a kidnapping eras ago. It is now a huge school, and a new mystery has arrived for the students.

The setting of this book is interesting as it’s in a mountain setting involving a giant school for special talented students. It was quick paced, easy going, yet intriguing all at once.

I enjoyed the characters, the drama, and the setting.
Can’t recommend it enough!

I don’t know how to react to this book. I know for a fact i wont be continuing the series. The book was good, with the mystery and characters but.. haha oh did it trigger my anxiety. It got so intense at one point i started skinning the pages thinking I would choose to stop at one point but then, things got more intense and I had to know how it would end.

Oh to be left on a cliffhanger when you don’t have the second book… ugh.

This book was captivating! I wish there was some more evidence that Stevie could have found because I was really hoping she would be the next Sherlock but maybe that’s coming in the second book. I’m also curious about how the 1936 timeline plays out.

Overall glad it’s not super romance oriented and is instead geared towards YA fiction with a sprinkle of mystery!

At first, I really wasn't into the book. I had to give a few chapters in because there is so much background setup. It takes a long time for anything to really pick up.

One thing I really appreciate is how to main character's struggle with anxiety is written. I thought it felt very accurate and this writing made my own struggles feel validated. The main character is a huge true-crime/classic mystery fan, so it's really fun to catch all the references as you're reading. All of this is endearing, but I don't think it makes up for the book feeling more like an introductory text to the actual plot and mystery of the book.

Interesting cast of characters but felt to me like half a book.
