2.5 stars
I have a mixed feelings about this. The plot and writing style is really interesting. I like the push-and-pull battle between the Big Nurse and the patients. But for the love of God, I really couldn't stand all the sexism and racism. I completely understand that this is a book from another time, I'm not saying it had to be up to my modern standards, but that didn't mean it was any easier to get through. Especially since it was absolutely everywhere. I don't think McMurphy deserved the horrible fate he got at the end, no one does, but that doesn't mean I like him.
I decided to give it 2.5-stars because since I had a lot of mixed opinions on it, and that is the most middling score I could give it.
