An excellent novel. It has mystery, keeps you on your toes, a page turner. It also has depth, great characters, good story.
It grips your attention from the first pages. I have really enjoyed the way it is written, so way the characters are so honest and kind and ....human, relatable, people that make mistakes, that second guess themselves, that do things with the best intentions.
The story happens in PNW and that was another big plus for me.
I highly recommend this book! And I'm looking forward to the next one by Christina McDonald.

This just reminded me too much of other stories I've read, but it was still enjoyable.

I just finished The Night Olivia Fell by Christina McDonald and it was such a suspenseful and engaging read. I have found that I am very drawn towards domestic thrillers and this book kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved the alternating narratives and I was able to really connect with each of the main characters who were imperfect but real because of McDonald's ability to portray them with such complexity. It was a very emotional read and kept me guessing until the end. I definitely recommend this one and it was a solid four-star book for me!
I would give this 3.5 stars! It was a great story line but a little too predictable for me. Overall i enjoyed it though!
1.5 ⭐️. Rounded up because I’m feeling generous. I do not enjoy giving bad reviews. I feel guilty in a way, and I try to make sure my review is not a bad one due to reader preference. In this case, this book is so poorly written I wonder if it had any editing at all. There are so many inconsistencies and it drove me crazy.
~ At one point, Sarah is mentioned as having an eczema breakout and at another point is described as having perfect skin.
~ Olivia is 18 weeks pregnant at the time of the accident and it is stated she must have known for awhile. Later we discover that indeed she has known for a week or more before the fall. Yet her mom finds a pregnancy test in the bathroom garbage after the accident. How long has it been there and why did Abi just now notice it?? Also no girl is going to toss a pregnancy test in the bathroom garbage for a pregnancy she is trying to conceal. Not believable at all.
~ It is either the long bridge route to Madison’s house or the shortcut route through the woods, but when Olivia is walking home from there with Derek, they cross the bridge and then duck into the woods... so hmmm... unsure if that was the long or short route since they did both.
~ Olivia lies constantly but then states at one point, “Lies are for cowards and thieves. I’m neither.” Really?
I could go on and on. There are also odd things that just come out of left field, such as when Olivia (a 17 year old teenager) is acting weirdly aloof with her mom, her mom wonders if she could have cancer... huh!!?? I found little things like this so annoying and distracting. It was also the most predictable book I think I have ever read. I really can’t understand why this was a best seller. My recommendation: Do yourself a favor and read something else.

An emotional roller coaster, the story doesn't lag at any point.

Abi’s world is shattered when she receives a call in the middle of the night that her teenage daughter, Olivia, has been in a terrible accident. Olivia now suffers from a brain injury and Abi is left with a lot of questions and a police squad that isn’t being helpful. Abi takes it upon herself to find out what actually happened to Olivia that night and who is responsible. As she investigates certain leads she learns a lot about her daughter and the devastating news that someone from her past may be behind this. review: I think my review may be a bit different than some, solely because I read Reconstructing Amelia and the two books have striking similarities… so much so that I found myself comparing the two the entire time I was reading it. However, if you haven’t read Reconstructing Amelia I think you will *love* this book. The book is a real page turner and as Abi starts learning more about Olivia, it’s almost impossible to put this book down. The mystery and twists within this book are surprising and totally believable. I loved the writing and thought the author did a great job of developing the characters throughout the story without revealing too much right off the bat. The ending totally wrecked me. rating: 4 out of 5 ⭐️
