Sometimes a book grabs you and you can’t put it down. This is a perfect example! The pages flew by and I didn’t want to do anything but read. That’s reading at its best!

3.5! Would be a 4 if everything wasn’t so dramatized. It felt like the author was trying to be overly poetic? THAT SAID, I did enjoy the story, and it was engaging enough that I wanted to keep reading. And I cried a lot at the end.

This book is compared a lot to Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight. While both books have a mother seeking justice for their daughter, that's where the similarities end. Amelia has a more juvenile feel. The Night Olivia Fell is richer or more touching. Abi and Olivia's relationship is real and relatable. The way the story progresses had me guessing the entire time, who, if anyone, was behind Olivia's death. The ending had me actually crying, a hard mission to accomplish. I will be thinking of this book, and where the characters would be today, for some time.
I really liked this one and enjoyed the past/present alternating chapters! I did, at some points in the middle of the book (like I do with every thriller I read), contemplate a few others as the “killer” but I picked up when she began hinting at who it ended up being. I did find Olivia’s character a little whiny during some of her chapters but she’s a teenager so I really do get it. Sidenote - am I the only one that got overly emotional the last two chapters?

It’s a thriller - a Mom on the search for how her daughter died as she is sure she didn’t “just fall”. It’s gut-wrenching in parts, but sometimes predictable too. I liked it - I didn’t love it. I felt you could almost see the ending coming and parts just wrapped up a little too nicely. I listened to the audio of this one. It was also good - just didn’t grab me like I had hoped.
All around, a really good read. It was easy to pick this up and not put it down again until I absolutely had too. Broke my heart a little bit throughout, but was very pleased with how everything tied in together at the end.
