I am giving this book 4.5 stars.
Abi Knight shoots awake in the middle of the night to every parent's worst nightmare: a call from the hospital informing her that they have her daughter and she needs to get there now. When Abi arrives to the hospital, Olivia is hooked up to machines after falling off a bridge, she's braindead and most surprising of all, she's pregnant. She must be kept on life-support if they want the baby to have any chance of surviving. Abi notices bruises around Olivia's wrist, and when the police determine Olivia's fall was an accident, Abi realizes she must take the situation into her own hands if she's ever going to get justice for her daughter. Now Abi needs to figure out how this happened, who could have done it and who the father of Olivia's baby is. This all proves difficult when no one wants to share any information and as it turns out, Olivia was keeping secrets from her mother.
This book goes back and forth between Abi in the present day and Olivia in the past. I think it's easy to sympathize with both Abi and Olivia in the things that they go through, and is a great example of why communication in ALL types of relationships is so important. Christina McDonald is great with writing twists that are unexpected and unpredictable and she does it in a way that is clear and easy to understand. I very much enjoy her writing and I very much enjoyed this book! I would definitely recommend.

Not a bad read but not a great one.
The "who done it and why" has beyond obvious, so, not much of a mystery and definitely not a thriller.
It was a cookie cutter storyline and the middle got muddier than the Zig Zag River with all the characters and accusations and who fit where. It made you just want to get to the end.
But the ending, if you are an emotional person/reader, have tissues ready.
And someone get that Mom in freaking therapy!
The narrator did a good job

So I'm not typically one to enjoy stories designed to make you cry. They usually seem obvious or like they've tried really hard. This one falls into that category.
Because seriously? She went an entire summer and 2-3 months into the school year without breaking up with her boyfriend, but also not realizing that he wasn't spending time with her either??? Right.

3 ⭐️ Abi gets a call in the middle of the night that her daughter, Olivia, suffered a nasty fall. When she arrives, she’s told her teenage daughter is brain dead and pregnant. Though she has bruises on her wrists and multiple threatening texts, the police are eager to rule it an accident and stop investigating. Abi needs to find out what happened to her daughter and decides she won’t give up until she does.
Meh. Reads very much like a rushed YA novel. It’s somewhat exciting, but personally I couldn’t get over the plot holes. I also don’t think they had anyone work on the book with any medical knowledge. The medical storylines were driving me crazy. I also barely identified with the mother and her choices and motivations.

This book had some seriously intense moments, and while it wasn't full of twists and turns, it kept me guessing long enough. I enjoy a good old fashioned "who dunnit", and that's exactly what this was. Great read!
This book is generally described as a story of a mother, Abi, trying to get to the bottom of her daughter, Olivia’s, deadly fall, but it’s so much more. It’s really about Olivia - Olivia falling in love for the first time, Olivia keeping secrets from her best friend, Olivia trying to find out more about her father (who she was told died, but she discovers is alive). And then also it’s about Abi coping with losing the person she’s devoted her entire life to - her daughter. It’s a very emotional story with a quick moving plot.

The chilling story of a mother’s fight to learn the truth about her daughter’s tragic fall from a bridge that leaves her brain dead.
Olivia is the perfect daughter. She gets perfect grades, is the star of the swim team, and has a great boyfriend. When she meets a girl that looks scarily like her on a school field trip, she starts to wonder about her father, whom her mother says died before she was born. This curiosity spirals into constant lies and deceit in the name of the truth. After Olivia falls, her mother, Abi, will not rest until she knows what led to her daughter’s fall.
This is a quality book, with a lot of great things going on. There’s mystery, young love, menacing characters, and - my favorite - wonderful themes of motherhood and mother/daughter relationships. Unfortunately, it also falls flat in places. The “thrill” aspect of this thriller is tame - there are no moments of shock and awe. That’s not to say there aren’t surprises - there are - but they don’t ultimately culminate into a shocking twist. Further, Olivia’s perspective is speckled with YA-style writing, which I wasn’t expecting and don’t think adds to the story or character development. All in all, it’s an interesting and enjoyable story, but not at the top of my list of thrillers.

2.5 stars for this thriller that focuses heavily on mother-daughter relationships.
Abigail Knight is shocked when her daughter Olivia is found brain dead and pregnant at the bottom of an embankment in their hometown of Washington. It is clear to Abi that someone intentionally pushed Olivia, but the police are putting in little effort in tracking down who the culprit might have been. Abi decides to take matters into her own hands while her daughter is kept on life support in hopes that Olivia's unborn baby will be able to thrive.
Chapters told from Olivia's viewpoint leading up to her murder are interspersed with Abi's present-day chapters, weaving a more complete picture of events for the reader. It is rare that I can't quite articulate what I did not like about a book, but this one was lacking a certain quality that I can't place. It could definitely just be me based on the positive reviews that this book is getting; but all in all, it didn't do it for me.
