peak fantasy, las pelis no se parecen una mierda pero en el buen sentido

Edelleen aivan loistava kirja, josta sain vieläkin uusia ahaa-elämyksiä ja löysin uusia tasoja.

I've wanted to read this series for a long time now and always pushed it aside and had this idea it would be boring, very hard to read and get immersed into and have excessive world building jargon and terminology that makes it inaccessible and tedious to understand. After reading all of the current ASOIF (GoT) books, I feared the LOTR series would be similarly long, excessive and hard to digest at times.

However, I was pleasantly wrong and found this book easy to read and follow, but I may be biased in that I've watched the movies countless times by now and already understand and know most of the terminology and characters. Regardless, I'm looking forward to finishing the next 2 books in this trilogy!

“Did you find the characters lovable?” Ummmm there are literally tears in my eyes whenever I think about them

The hype built around this novel (and the series in general) did not live up. Perhaps because I never truly get the cult-like following around certain high fantasy novels. In this novel, Tolkien excelled at creating a well-developed world with a rich history and detailed geography. But at everything else. . .

The characters suffered most, with little displays of any personality or depth. Most of the characters you could switch names and the story would be unaffected due to how little some of the characters were developed. And although I praised the detailed geography, I could not get through each chapter without checking a map several times. I don't mind stories needing to include a map for reference but it becomes excessive when maps must be referenced constantly to try and keep the story (and geography) straight. My last criticism is purely preferential -- all the poetry and singing was annoying. I get the intent but the rhyme scheme was always the same and they didn't seem to add anything to the story.

Why did I wait so long
