I need to stop starting books after midnight knowing I won’t stop until I finish!! It’s 4am now :/ this book was really good though so I don’t regret it! It has a unique world building element that was different to the others in this genre. Most A/B/O style books have very similar things going on, so the creation of all the other elements going on was very fun! However the last chapter completely ruined it for me unfortunately, otherwise it was a very good four stars. Concerning as the sequels look not very well rated, so even though I am intrigued about what happened with Sawyer and Demi I’m unsure if I’ll continue this journey.

In terms of how men are written Sawyer isn’t bad, he knows when to not be an alpha dick kind of guy but annoyingly at the same time his answer to everything is violence? Not ideal! I would rather see him use his power in other ways but that’s maybe just me

This book was massively disappointing. I think the plot had so much potential. I’ve never read a werewolf story with this variation of wolf. And I was really excited to see the way the author would develop it. However, the character development was very poor. I would’ve liked a stronger female lead, but I understand the way she was. She was bullied for 15 years of her life, has had to chain down her wolf for all of it, went through a very traumatic experience. So I understand the demureness of her personality. But that doesn’t mean I like it. It forced her to rely on Sawyer as her protector. But because of the type of wolf she is I want her to acknowledge that she doesn’t need a protector. Sawyer’s character was kind of meh. Nothing really great about him honestly. The ending though is the biggest reason I’m giving this book such such a low rating. They have already imprinted on each other. They can read each other’s thoughts and feelings. Right, I get all that. It’s nothing new to a werewolf story. However, the fact that Sawyer did not believe Demi, despite all of that which comes with imprinting, was utterly ridiculous. All of the good about this book went down the drain with that ending.

Ok so no kidding about spoilers in this review. The plot is super twisty, so seriously don’t read this further unless you want hints spoiled.

First things first, the plotting of this does NOT follow romance novel rules!

Good pace and continuous story building, decent world building and characters (you can always do more, but its fine). Love the gender roles, modern halleluja ! If you are a Rhysand lover, you’ll like this one. She’s her own person with her own destiny, not defined by ‘him’.

Honestly hadn’t expected that. The occasional ‘instagram, kim kardashian’ references are a bit funny but I think it will allow for even more world building..

Magical

Be prepared, you will be sucked in. You feel all of Demi's emotions. Happiness, heartbreak, anger- this story is written so well that your own heart feels it all. I can't wait for the next book!!
