It was pretty good, but I just couldn't get into it. I think I was just in the wrong mood.
Listened to the audio book. Narrator's voice was so charming! Really enjoyed the experience - just the right amount of darkness and foreboding blended with the magic.

I've read this book several times and it's always such a delight. The only thing that bothers me is that Tati becomes a classic fainting girl...which I guess drives the plot forward but I always felt like her character could have been a little more fleshed out.

At first it may look like things are picking up slowly and nothing seems to be happening but let me tell you, even as the story starts slow I could not get the book out of my mind for every single waking moment that I was not reading it. It's that good!!!
The way the author writes from solely Jena's (FL) perspective let's you experience the world through her lenses. While as a reader, I was able to pick up on things that the FL didn't,(such as Cezar and Tadeusz's affection towards Jena and Gogu being an integral part to the plot) there were still things that were hidden in plain sight that I, along with Jena, didn't take notice. That made the reading experience so much more enjoyable as I felt like I was experiencing the story through her point of view and not mine as a reader. This also meant that I was feeling the emotions that she had felt, which made the last few chapters, where the story was coming to an ending, so much more worth it.
Overall, I highly recommend this book as I enjoyed it even though I'm used to contemporary romance tropes and writing. I suggest for those who struggle with slow pacing and deep writing to read this in between your light romance reads and allow yourself the time to really focus and enjoy the book as a whole without any distractions (like reading another book at the same time as this) as this story requires understanding and observation of undertones.
