This is maybe the first book to give a medical diagnosis to “you’re the first to make me cum”. I’d never heard anorgsmia before and I’m somewhat confused as to how surgery to fix endometriosis would have enabled her to suddenly achieve orgasm but whatever, it’s at least better than just “magic dick”.

There is clearly a WHOLE fuck ton of history I knew nothing about before reading this book. It felt a bit like jumping into the deep end and hoping I’d swim, I still don’t feel like I have a complete grasp on all the complex relationship histories but I know the most important ones I suppose.

It’s an interesting story and I’m looking forward to the second to see how it all pans out.

there were two things i particularly enjoyed about this book… one was the interesting discussion about morals and what it truly means to be good vs evil, and how not everything is black and white. second, i really liked elena as a character. you learn her backstory, the why behind why she is who she is, and her thought process. i could see the reasoning behind the debates in her mind and the push/pull. it was an interesting book, and while the end was kind of a cliffhanger, i’m not particularly running to the second book. an interesting one for sure, though. interesting family dynamics, as well. i realized there was another duology i could’ve read before this one, with cosima, but like the second book, i wouldn’t necessarily be in a rush to read it. also it was fun to see a little hint of the fallen mc in there.
