3.75 - This is quite a slow burn book to begin with, I felt like the first 200 pages were hard to get through because of it. I also could not stand Ella for the first two thirds of the book 😂

But in the end, I loved Ella’s character growth, along with Pru’s. I loved the storyline all the way through, even if it was slow to get into. I really enjoyed the ending too. This book promises friendship, community togetherness, forgiveness, hope and love, and it certainly delivers. If it had been a bit faster paced and if I’d clicked with the characters more from the start, then my overall rating would have been higher. But it was a heartwarming read by the end.

“Be worthy love, and love will come”

Gosh I loved this book!  It is full of heart and mother/daughter relationships  and literary references. I wish this book would have existed before I had kids. I would have loved to build them a library full of books with inscriptions to them that I added to each year on their birthdays. It’s an idea I’ll tuck away for future grandkids. And what a joy it was to read and discuss with my mom and sister!

I loved it

What you’ll find:
Quirky characters
Lots of literary references
A mother and daughter finding their way back to each other

I liked this book.  The main plot was a little predictable , but the the way books and friends are interwoven into the main plot made it a heartwarming and enjoyable read.
