I enjoyed this book and it was a quick read.
Overall though there wasn't anything that I absolutely loved or that I disliked. And whenever I read stories set in the 1800s it's always a bit hard to wrap my head around what it was actually like during that time period. I always think of it as a much simpler time especially since the last part of the book took part in the early 1900s. And it's always interesting to read a book set in that time period that was actually written then and not written by doing research on the period.

Like Christina, my last reading (in maybe seventh grade?) didn't have much of an impact. This time I couldn't put it down.

Beautiful writing and characters. Her characters were real, but there was always a hint of romanticism or fantasy. Willa Cather's writing is pretty and detailed. As overused at this phrase is, you definitely become part of the story. You also can find yourself in each character, even if it's just a tiny piece. I loved this book.

My Ántonia is a beautifully told tale of life on the prairies and small towns of southern Nebraska around the turn of the 20th century. The characters, plot and setting all come alive and leave the reader feeling as if they have taken a living part in the story. One can't help but feel strongly for characters who are so real and tangible. This is a moving and powerful story about real people in a real place and time. I come away from the story deeply moved, and feeling more alive for having taken part in their story. Wow, this novel definitely deserves its place on the must-read lists.
