I really loved this. It was simple and relatable. I liked the contemplation piece and the ending was fulfilling. The little adventures style makes it seem like the narrator is your friend catching up with you. I liked how it wasn't intense but it was deep. Yay translated books!

this was in no way an exciting read but more of a comfortable one. overall it did achieve this somber and quiet feel as the characters were in their stages of loneliness upon first reconnecting and as their friendship deepens they develop from being alone together to eventually falling in love. i liked how loneliness was depicted as we grow older and in being more reflective and accepting of changes with more grace, we gain wisdom.

i know they’re both consenting adults (with one already a senior citizen) but their student-teacher dynamic just irks me the wrong way and i couldn’t get past it despite the genuine connection they have… but that’s just me.
