I usually find the second book in a series to be not as good as the first book but this is definitely the other way around!

I loved all the discovery and twists and character develop throughout the book and it was an absolute joy to read!

Yes, the characters got hurt (a lot) both physically and mentally and how they dealt with it and everything that was thrown at them was amazing!

I’m loving Bree and Sel’s interactions and the development of their relationship, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds, along with Nick as well, in Oathbound!

And that ending!!! No spoilers, but I did not see that coming and oh my gosh, it’s going to be a struggle to wait to for Oathbound to come out!!

I was not prepared for how this series was going to grip me. The characters are so complex and as the world continues to grow the story is too. And that cliff hanger?!

Pros: I really enjoyed the introduction of all the new characters. Even though I can’t keep track of all the old characters from book 1, the characters we met in this book are so much fun to be around. I also like the complexity between Bree and both boys. Lot to unpack there.

Cons: it feels like there are some holes in what’s happening within the legendborn and the outside world. It feels like Bree’s dad would be more worried about the current state of affairs.

I truly don’t understand how people could have sat on that ending and not being able to read the next book. I would have honestly died.

I did not enjoy this book as much as the first.

A majority of this book felt mind numbingly slow. The pacing just felt really off. The last 30 or so percent was great, however. I liked this book, but do not believe the length was necessary. It was rather repetitive. To be completely honest, I thought about DNF’ing several times. I’m glad I didn’t but just keep that in mind.

There is little romance in this book. Brooding, yes. Romance, no. I read it for the fantasy, but this is just an FYI for those looking for more romance in their fantasy books.
