The book is written as an oral history, a choice that sets this book apart from most anything I’ve read recently. The story of this band isn’t limited to one person’s perspective, one character’s memory of a specific event. Instead, the story bounces from character to character, allowing each of them to have a say in the narrative presented. Each character gets to reveal their focus through their memories, though warped by 30-40 years and influenced by hindsight. It allows the readers to fully experience the perfect storm of this band, its rise to the top, and its eventual downfall.
