Verrrrry slow, I just couldn’t get invested
Pleasant enough. A little too much telling about (versus simply showing) modern India and a Bollywood-worthy bad guy and plot, but an easy read with an engaging main character. I’ll probably read more in the series just for fun.
Perfect book for a holiday... Great for reading on a train, by the water...
Just the right mix of humor, suspense, and (like the title says!) the unexpected made this a really difficult book to put down.

You can tell this is the first of a series, there’s a lot of background information and a lot of extra storyline outside the crime solving. It was interesting and unique and I look forward to seeing what comes next.

A whimsical mystery that takes place in Mumbai and has the delightful element of a baby elephant.
I’m trying to let go of books I find myself “pushing through.” I want books that will pull me, and though they might be harder to find, I know they’re out there.
This one had a strong sense of place, but not much else for me. The characters felt a bit flat, and the mystery was a run-of-the-mill police procedural with some sort of organized crime at the center. I much prefer character-driven personal/psychological mysteries, so I decided to let this one go.
