Amazing how everyone handles a tragic loss on his/her own way, how people get lost in their own perception, how it justifies a certain obsessive exercise of control or the right on justice. How it blindsides others and make them assume this that aren't true...
I really liked Chase and the way he listened to Beth and tried to calm her into reacting more reasonable to all the outrageous measurements their parents made.
Don't make me say anything about Jef...

There she approaches the most attractive boy she's ever seen and they hit it off - and one thing leads to another...
But at school she realizes that her random party hook up is the last guy she should want. He's the boy that accidentally hit and killed her sister. Once Chase finds out who Beth is he's horrified and doesn't want to be involved with her but Beth is persistent. The heart wants what the heart wants, despite what her parents, her friends, and the rest of the town thinks.
In pursuing a friendship (and more) Beth is finally able to face her grief for her sister and starts to see the world around her and the events leading up to Rachel's death in a new way. Will her strict parents ever condone a relationship with the guy they hold responsible for their eldest daughter's death? Or is Beth better leaving Chase far enough alone?
Honestly, I don't know how to feel about One Small Thing. It was a quick, easy read and I loved Beth and Chase together. It was the rest of the book that bothered me.
One Small Thing takes a set of parents even more extreme than Elle's parents in Katie McGarry's Say You'll Remember Me and crosses with a similar (sort of) plot to Tijan's Ryan's Bed.
I admit I think Beth's parents are my major problem with this book. Every time I read an interaction between Beth and her parents I wanted to reach into the book and slap them silly. They were insane, they were unfair, and they were ridiculous. I think the point the reader is supposed to get is that parents only want what is best for their kids - but this wasn't at all best for Beth. I actually really disliked almost every character except Beth and Chase if I'm being completely honest. Beth's friends were judgmental and fickle, Jeff was the worst kind of human being, and Beth's classmates and the school administration needed a serious intervention about bullying and herding mentalities.
Then there were the people Beth met along the way like Ashleigh and Jay who I kept waiting for Beth to befriend after her one night meeting them only to end up disappointed.
Overall, I could have used more Beth and Chase and less of everything else. Even though the story kept me engaged it was probably one of my least favorite Erin Watt books.

Interesting premise. I was particularly fascinated to see how the author would deal with a romance with the murderer of the sister.
This one wins the ‘most frustrating main character’ award. Beth honestly ruined a couple of my mornings with how annoying she is. I don’t know if that made it a good read or a terrible one so I’m leaving it in the middle...
I cannot say enough about this book. The story absolutely floored me. I was hooked from the first chapter. The emotional rollercoaster of grief, helplessness, forgiveness, love, hurt, anguish, and horror was almost too much for my brain to handle. In a good way! I can't believe I waited so long to read it. Elle and Jen did an amazing job with this book. 100% read it!!
Erin Watt books are a one-click for me, I love them all, this one however was a little bit slower than the ones before. Beth struggles after losing her sister to overbearing parents, who are unable to cope with losing their other child.
Chase is the town outcast, also strugguling to get away from his past and find a fresh start, when Beth and Chase meet, they are conflicted, they know how it will afect their relationship but they find themselves relaying on each other.
This series are the best for teenage drama, I absoloutely recommend reading them all.

Ikke det bedste jeg har oplevet fra Erin Watt...
Kan næsten ikke rumme forældrene - det tangerer jo omsorgssvigt!
Men ellers et interessant dilemma.

I dont like anyone of the characters. The situation is ALMOST wild enough I could enjoy it but I really (and I'm so sorry) hate the characters. Beth is sooooo naive like to the point I want to punch her. Like I get she makes bad choices -we all did at 16- but dude STOP BEING SO DAMN PASSIVE. Her parents are also really annoying. I get he over protectiveness but the delivery was done all wrong. Jeff, ugh, I can already predict where this is going and I DON'T WANT IT. Chase, wyd boy? I get Beth can't make a choice to save her life but you need to get your shit together .
I'm just really upset and frustrated. Because everyone out here giving it 4 or 5 stars and I don't get it. It reads like a fanfic but I've read better fanfic you know?
