This was twisty and turny and at no point did I have a solid grasp on what was happening or where the story was going. It was a wild ride, but a fun one. I didn’t realize this was the same universe as Caraval (nor did it click that it’s the same author) until after I finished. I almost DNF’d Caraval and didn’t read the rest of the series, but now maybe I should? Idk. I’ll def keep going with this one at least.

I do badly want to like this series but it’s just can’t get into Stephanie’s storylines. This book has so much going on and constantly feels like you’re moving into a random side story. My biggest take away from this world is random.

Easy read but slightly painful. Incredibly YA, basic and characters/ writing so so childish. Dont get the hype.

read the first ~127 pages and then stopped to read the whole caraval trilogy and then DIDN'T reread the beginning lol so. i dont remember it TOO clearly but i remember it cracked me up and jacks was fucking hilarious. idk if i was supposed to find it so hilarious but his craziness was iconic lol. wasn't totally sold on evangeline at first but she grew on me! overall a very good setup for the second book and a very fun read
