This was twisty and turny and at no point did I have a solid grasp on what was happening or where the story was going. It was a wild ride, but a fun one. I didn’t realize this was the same universe as Caraval (nor did it click that it’s the same author) until after I finished. I almost DNF’d Caraval and didn’t read the rest of the series, but now maybe I should? Idk. I’ll def keep going with this one at least.

I do badly want to like this series but it’s just can’t get into Stephanie’s storylines. This book has so much going on and constantly feels like you’re moving into a random side story. My biggest take away from this world is random.

Easy read but slightly painful. Incredibly YA, basic and characters/ writing so so childish. Dont get the hype.

read the first ~127 pages and then stopped to read the whole caraval trilogy and then DIDN'T reread the beginning lol so. i dont remember it TOO clearly but i remember it cracked me up and jacks was fucking hilarious. idk if i was supposed to find it so hilarious but his craziness was iconic lol. wasn't totally sold on evangeline at first but she grew on me! overall a very good setup for the second book and a very fun read

I read that other series that’s related to this one like sophomore year of college and I’m pretty sure there’s supposed to be several characters that I should recognize but I only recognize jacks or whatever that dudes name was (“that dude” being the main love interest but that’s not the point). Um, it was like fine? I did fly through it so I’ll probably read the rest of the series (I say like I didn’t already put book 2 on hold on Libby) but I’m not like thrilled by it or anything

I love romantasy books and this one is okay. It just didn’t draw me in enough to want to read the rest of the series. There is plenty of action and adventure but it was missing that thing that just makes a book click where you haaaaaavvvvvvveee to grab the next book to see what happens next.
