I love romantasy books and this one is okay. It just didn’t draw me in enough to want to read the rest of the series. There is plenty of action and adventure but it was missing that thing that just makes a book click where you haaaaaavvvvvvveee to grab the next book to see what happens next.
Moderate: Death, Violence, Blood, Gaslighting, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Grief, Death of parent

WORTH ALL THE HYPE! a perfect YA fantasy that feels like a fairytale.
I specifically read the caraval series last year to prepare for this trilogy, and fell in love with the unique and magical universe. idk why it took me so long to finally start this, but it feels like coming home to a welcoming hug. i’ve missed the magic and whimsical wonder of this universe so so much. i listened to the audiobook book as i read too, which added to the magic imo.
I was instantly more intrigued with evangeline and her story compared to the caraval series. i absolutely loved her character. she is so lovable. i understand why everyone loves her, she’s such a soft girl. i relate to her so much. while she may be young and naive at times, she makes up for it by being incredibly kind and brave tbh. how can u fault her for making decisions based on feelings we have all experienced; love, heartbreak and curiosity. she’s such a hopeless romantic with so much empathy and kindness but also is able to stand her ground (especially with jacks 😛)
speaking of jacks WHEWWWW almost forgot how fine he is. i love me a good villain but he’s a villain with a heart! and a crazy redemption arc im sure. or maybe i just love blondes hehe. i’ve missed his sassy humour so much. but wow tella really left him heartbroken. every mention of her made me a little sad, i rmr liking them together a bit in caraval. it definitely helps to have read the other trilogy before this one.
okay now them TOGETHER?! crazy enemies to lovers story. like their chemistry is kinda insane. it had me giggling and blushing but then again, i love this trope. they’re so similar it’s like they’re made for each other without even knowing. BOTH WANT THEIR TRUE LOVE BRUH.
anyways, i loved the plot too. loved seeing them work together. also poor apollo omg. everything was pretty medium to fast paced. i was engaged the whole time which made me finish it so fast. it’s bittersweet. it’s so good i’ll devour the rest of the trilogy even tho i should savour it.

So many words written to say nothing. Repetitive writing, bland and absolutely STUPID characters. I was bored the entire time and it felt like nothing happened at all in this book.
I liked the fairytale vibes a lot. Evangeline seems to be smarter than most YA protagonists, which I appreciate. Had a great time, an easy read and distinct characters!
