I viewed ripe as one of those books that just reassured us that the world is as fu*ked up as we know it to be.

An incredibly demoralising read about the day to day reality of being stuck in a capitalistic society. Very well written but it gets too repetitive for me. Whilst I understand that the repetitiveness and bleakness is the whole point, I still feel like it could be addressed in a way that would make for a more compelling read.

This book resonated so much with me as a corporate girlie who’s soooo exhausted with life.
It is very well written, and I liked the format. It has a lot of metaphors and scientific references which I appreciated because it also stimulated my mind.

It's a 5-star read for me. And I might re-read it because it felt comforting even though the story is depressing. I guess it's just reassuring to know that you're not alone, that a girl like me is also experiencing what I've been going through. The story's setting is timely as well to what the world and our generation are dealing with now.

Reminded me of A Year Of Rest & Relaxation.
I really enjoyed the writing style and loved the cover.
This book is depressing - you can feel the weight of the “black hole” on her and the characters passiveness is frustrating but believable.
Would read more from this author.

it was an okay read but painfully unoriginal and the symbolism and metaphors (black hole, persephone, cassandra) were very on the nose
also, for all the times this black hole, while ‘cheap’, was mentioned I felt like there could have been more to it to salvage it but alas
