I wrote a critical recommendation of the first book of this trilogy a year ago, with the expectation that the second book would be an improvement.

And...

That came true. Witch Gold is a major improvement over Brimstone. The flowery descriptions were pointless for me due to aphantasia, but they were all written quite well and didn't go into the realm of purple prose—the descriptions did not take precedence over story. Ava was less frustrating this time around, which is a big plus, and the story flowed better than it does in the first book.

Satisfied with my read. Looking forward to the third.
