dark medium-paced

Me and my fucked up self loved this book.
Checked the somnophilia box which is a plus for me. Not super invested in the Ted storyline tho.
Will be continuing the series.

I don't have many thoughts that jump out at me... the characters were kinda typical and plot nonexistent. Spice was good except for the actual sex scene. The stalker side plot was also kinda random, but I wonder how its going to develop in the next book.

5 dark and smutty stars

This was phenomenal. I read this in one sitting and absolutely loved it.

The Lords are absolutely heinous and I was so rooting for them!

Excited for book 2!

The authors has me at the authors’ not.
It looked like there would be no slow start when the prologue started it early with a hand necklace.
This has a taboo sense with Story facing off against her stepbrother and his cruel friends.
The Lords and other feats on campus reads more like a secret society of the skull and crossbones variety.
Rather and killer read as more bad boys, yet have an interesting juxtaposition of being called Lords.
Killian making sure to make it clear that Story is not his sister like it makes his inside thoughts less taboo.
Tristian and Rath are so darn good at making it seem like they care about Story that they had me fooled a few times and then the game was brought back up and it felt like a gut punch.
Story really thought she had the guys with the fidelity cause, but it just ended up being something that was turned against her.
There is this huge looming presence of Ted and it is used to hook you because you just cannot stand ending on a single chapter from his POV. And it seems like he has some deep connections with the Lords. I have a couple of ideas of who he can be, and I will be reading more in this series.
I started off the book wanting the guys to make a run at Ted, but they had me hoping for mutually assured destruction of the 4 of them.
Story really showed that just because your body enjoys something, does not mean that your mind does. There were themes of noncon, but I think it was true noncon and not something that she welcomed considering what the Lords kept a secret from her.
I think all of the Lords are emotionally stunted and may think near the end that they had real feelings for Story. This came off as too little, too late. Because by the time they all realized things, they had already gone too far and broke Story; and not in the way they wanted to.
I get why Story went for Killian in the end, but I think she underestimated her feelings for him.
I was happy to see her get a little of her fire back with the email at the end, but I think the next book will tell if she can keep it up or if her feelings for the Lords will prevail.
This book made me laugh and made me cry. And the writing was so good and strong that I fell for the guys and Story at the same time.
There are a lot of unanswered questions here, so I look forward to seeing more about the south side, the Lords, if Story remains strong, and what in the world Ted will do. I am definitely interested in reading more.

Was this written by men or for men? Both?

The only reason I’d even think to read the second , let alone third or any others, is for the vengeance. However I can’t see how that’d be achievable when every single male character would need to be on the receiving end, and yes that includes the three MMCs. The writing didn’t suck, so 2 stars.
