I have a great many thoughts about this one.
I think the fatal flaw of the Boom series is that overall it is a reboot with the nostalgia worked in. All of the things that we know and love about these characters never happened to them/is still happening but in completely different ways. Truly they are just wholly new characters….I compare it to Season 5 Connor. His memory is wiped and he is basically a new person with the same name until he gains his memory back. These are blank slates with the same names and faces.
Unless everything were to happen to them the exact same way over again their reactions and morality will all be varied and consequently the people they become later will be new people.
In relation to this; making Xander a vampire with a soul changes the game. What is Angel? Why is he important or special? Does he have a soul this time around? And why? He’s not unique if this is common practice.
A few items notable things;
-The Powers That Be are mentioned by Anya.
-a racoon steals a taco from Xander
-Anya stores her arsenal in Tuna Verse, a shocking place to hide your weapons and a shocking theme for a fast food chain. (THIS is the bad place!)
Giles being completely aggressive through me through a loop, I had to go back to the last issue to see what exactly I missed.
Kendra took me by surprise as well. Not only is she present but she wants a 16 year old Watcher? Does the Watchers Academy not exist in this iteration?
Sweet to see Camazotz again who I equate with a very nice slayer kitty now because he’s so desperate to please his slayers. Nice Camazotz! Good giant bat!
Jenny saved the day riding Camazotz as well which reminded me of Angel riding his Dragon in the After The Fall series after the season 5 finale of Angel.

Just scraped a 4 star for me. The artwork was better in this issue although I was definitely missing Buffy in this one.

Si no fuese porque lo estoy viendo con mis propios ojos, me costaría creer que este reinicio de la mano de Boom! haya pegado tal bajonazo. La mayor parte de la culpa la tiene el dibujo, como ya dije en el segundo volumen. Y es que sigo sin comprar el trabajo de David López como ilustrador, lo siento.

I didn’t realize this was part of an event until I read some comments here, so confusion explained maybe. Story was messy and the art was awful, so this all went downhill very fast.

what. was. this. The first two volumes were so fun and I was amazed at how good the reboot was. This, however, felt like it wasn't even written by the same person :/ points lost for NO BUFFY at all or Spike & Dru. hope the next volume gets back on track. Love the art on the covers though.
