I wasn’t invested in the characters or plot. Kept putting it down. Decided to return to the library

This book was beautiful.
The emotions of all the characters were so easy to grasp and relate to. There was also magic involved, which is always a plus.
The entire story has a lyrical flow just beneath the surface. It made me feel a lot of things and it made me think about gender identity in a very non-confrontational way.

I just didn’t care about the sisters and I needed to care even just a bit to keep going.

the writing was beautiful and the magic/mythology too. the depiction of the trans character was also amazing and it honestly made the whole book a lot better (at least 1 star is for that alone).

however, the mere existence of a plot was questionable. it tried to follow a storyline but around the middle it jumped onto another, forgetting about the first one. it was really predictable too but it is ya so i can't really blame it for that.

overall i would recommend but for younger audiences.
