I love neil. Seriously that is the main reason I keep reading the sequels. This wasnt as good as previous books as the plot was a little lax. But i do love hearing about neil and daydreaming of living in a lifehouse...

Jenny Colgan knows exactly how to write a fluffy Christmas story

It's always a joy to return to a Jenny Colgan book, especially one with familiar characters. The Beach Street Bakery series is one of my favourites, chiefly for its wonderfully storybook-like setting, and in this case I was pleased to finally master the art of reading a book with a Christmas setting actually *during* the festive period.

In CHRISTMAS AT LITTLE BEACH STREET BAKERY Polly is still baking on the Cornish island of Mount Polbearne, living with her boyfriend Huckle and Neil the puffin at the lighthouse, and spending time with her best friend, Kerensa. Family dramas are the theme of this book, with both Polly and Kerensa (and, accordingly, Huckle and Reuben) undergoing transitions in their lives related to family members and close ties.

I'm not sure why, but I found the plot in this book a little more "wandering" than previous books, although it might be because I read this book somewhat patchily over a few weeks rather than reading it in a semi-solid sitting. Some things didn't seem to quite tie up for me, and I felt the plot going off on a slight tangent at times. With that being said, Jenny's writing is always a pleasure to read and I don't think I could ever be put off reading her books.

Nope. The entire premise of this is trying to hide a woman's secret affair of cheating on her husband in a one night stand. The husband is horrible. The only thing this book had going for it was the setting.

4 out of 5 stars

Another wonderful Christmas read by Jenny Colgan. It lost a star from certain steps away from the reality that was constructed. I'm trying not to reveal spoilers, thus the vague nature of the comment. Let's just say that I couldn't imagine the characters stepping this far away from themselves.

It was perfect for a 2 am Christmas Crochet project.

FW 8. This was better than the second book in the series. What I like about some of the other Colgan books is there is usually more than meets the eye. This book goes into the deeper side of Pollys history.

Fluffy and fine, and everybody lived happily ever after.
