Let's be honest this is probably the weakest link in the series about HUCKLE and polly. It was entertaining and easy to read and I felt like I wanted to finish it - maybe I should have taken a break and I would have enjoyed it more but the polly and Huckle do we belong to each other do we love each other why are we so poor was dumb. Also the author highly suggested in the first book that Huckle was well to do but as I have said before she plays fast and loose with the backstory of the characters and the timeline. Still easy and pretty fun - just don't get hung up on the details.

2.5 stars.

Least favorite book in the series. Felt it was a bit over-the-top, and some unnecessary plot lines, to be honest. Sometimes the dialog written for Huckle didn't seen to recall he was American. While I know a few people here that say "whilst", it's not common, and neither is "arse."

Also, maybe I'm mistaken, but I was a bit confused on the timeline. At the beginning of the book, it made it sound like it was the winter immediately following book 2, so only a handful of months later, but then later in the book everything that happened in book 2 was referred to as the previous year.

Lastly, the author uses the word "utterly" way too much, in all 3 books.

Christmas at Little Beach Street Bakery by Jenny Colgan held a special attraction for me because it includes a grown daughter estranged from her biological father. I have an estranged daughter (Facebook: Find Heather Jasmine), and like the girl in the book, her mother does not want to see a reunion. Like all other relationships in this book, this one has a happy ending, and I hope for a similar resolution for my story.

If you are looking for a happy Christmas story, I highly recommend this book.

A lovely little Christmas read! Really enjoyed the characters and even though it was a bit cheesy, it made me happy.

Loved how easy the story was. There were quite a few subplots that could be a bit challenging to keep up with, but the writing flowed well, and it was a lovely gentle read. I felt as though the summary on the back of the book didn't nearly capture the plot within, but that's okay.

Great ending to the Beach Street Bakery series!
I enjoyed the whole series - the sequels were just as good as the first book, which can be rare especially in the world of "fluffy fiction." The author does a good job of keeping the story moving - introducing new scenarios and drama where it's needed. Can't let the characters have too easy a journey, or it makes for boring reading!
Also, just like the first books in the series, expect this one to make you hungry. Like, hungry for bread. Fresh - baked, still warm from the oven bread. You have been warned.

This was a frothy little bubble of a novel, which somehow also discussed important issues with heart.  Polly is a baker living in a lighthouse in remote Scotland, with her fiancĂ© Huckle, a beekeeper. She is surrounded by her best friend and husband, and loads of local friends, but is apprehensive about making commitments, having been raised by a single mother, and never acknowledged by her father. Oh, and her sidekick is a puffin that she rescued, who refuses to be re-wilded. It's all charming.  I listened to the audiobook, so I couldn't easily take advantage, but there are also recipes at the end of the book.
