Alice's Adventures in Wonderland / Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll

When I first read this, I gave myself a headache (although that might have been from reading in bed all night with a flashlight). The second time through, it made more sense. (ish). Then I read the sequel, Through the Looking Glass, and that was just as good.

Honestly, so many books and movies reference these books, you should just read them. They're classics, they're not difficult to read, and they are so much fun! Read them out loud to your children, and listen to the giggles come (doing all the voices is a must). It's a cultural phenomenon--you won't be sorry.

+1 star for being whimsy and fun but -4 stars for everything else because I’m not even really sure what I just read. Lewis Carroll really knew his audience for this one (opium-hooked Victorian children) and unfortunately I am not a member of that audience

The language was quite simple and modern, unlike the English of classics in general. The ideas were so imaginative that I couldn't imagine how Louis even thought of them!
