The ending was a bit ridiculous. I think I need a break from YA. Also though Kiki was a bit annoying, although I did respect her ability to speak her mind. Didn't like the glorification of progressivism, but also got really angry at the school's blatant sexism and misogyny. I did like the gaming aspect of the book and the friendship between Kiki and Liam.

ARC provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Even though it deals with some heavier topics like misogyny in gaming, classism, and bullying, the overall tone of this is still really light-hearted and fun. The story is set in Indonesia, which made for a refreshing change. Kiki is a fun main character to follow. She has her flaws, and the author doesn't try to polish those away, but you also can't help but feel for her. I also really liked Liam, as well as a few of the side characters that brought a lot of humor to the story.

There were a few things that happened in the book that didn't make much sense to me, because I couldn't understand why a character would do something like that, but that didn't really hinder my enjoyment. Would definitely recommend for the target audience.

This books is so frustrating!! I can't stand the people from her school and they way they treat her. She doesn't deserve any of this. The mysoginy and bullying is ughh. I read books to escape reality not to be made more aware of it.

I really need to read descriptions of books and not pick a book based on authors I have previously read/liked and/or title. That is a me flaw.
Having said that, I picked this book because I have read the author before and I thought fun. I didnt realize this was a YA book. I still thought I might enjoy it because gamers, and set in Indonesia.
The school that the MC is transferred to was woefully familiar from my own childhood, public shaming, teachers yelling, strict uniforms. What was not familiar was the bullying. This book really needed it own trigger warning for bullying.
I saw the big identity reveal coming a mile away so that was no surprise, what was a surprise was the complete inept lack of communication and the chaotic decisions the leads were making that lead to a train wreck (imo) of a blow up.  The parents seemed cold and oblivious to the amount of bullying she faced in the new school. The book was not for me at all.
