I simply fell in love with the March sisters in this ‘always been in print since 1868’ classic. The March sisters each had very lovable yet very different qualities. (even Amy, the youngest who seemed more narcissistic and materialistic, but matured throughout the book). I couldn’t help but think about my relationships and the different personalities of my own 5 sisters reading this book.
It is amazing to me that a book written over 100 years ago can be such a timeless tale that we can still relate to in modern day. Sure, there are differences with expectations during these times and the verbiage used in the book, but I definitely would re-read the book as well as watch the movie. (of course we always know the book is better!)
It’s interesting to me to know that Louisa M. Alcott used similarities in her own life to write the book. Knowing that Jo the writer in the book was her personality in life, I felt like I got to take a peek into Louisa‘s life.
I didn’t even realize that she had written the book Little Men, which I am going to add to my Reading list!
If you are into Classics, but have not yet read Little Women, I suggest you grab a copy today! If you are not so much into the classics, I suggest you try one. Each one I read leaves me with a craving for another.

Is this actually a 5 star book? Maybe not, but it’s too wrapped up in childhood love and nostalgia to be anything else to me! I was pleasantly surprised, reading it with my 10 year old daughter for the first time, that it holds up excellently. We laughed, we cried, she started calling me “Marmee”- it was everything I remembered. We did have to take quite a hiatus once my daughter realized the death of a beloved character was imminent, but we came back to it when she felt ready. My kiddo even wants to read other works by Alcott, which I have to admit I never did, so this will be interesting!
