qué bonitas las relaciones de mujeres ay no🤧 (pero técnicamente sería 4.5 porque aunque entiendo que es parte del contexto, las enseñanzas morales/religiosas están algo cansadas)
Just couldn't get through it. I repeatedly became stuck on Chapter 1 and just literally couldn't move forward from it. One day I'll pick it up again and see if I can finish it because I absolutely loved the movie!

“I want to do something splendid... something heroic or wonderful that won't be forgotten after I'm dead. I don't know what, but I'm on the watch for it and mean to astonish you all someday.”
I don't think any other character in fiction resembles me more closely than Jo. Since I was a little girl, she inspired me to be a writer because of our similar names, even though I had only watched the film until now. We have the same character, the same social position. Even her romantic life mirrors mine.
This book is very light; nothing too dramatic or sad happens, which I missed a bit. The characters and events are rosy to the point of romanticism, yet you can hardly complain because you want to continue reading about the March family. This was easy for me to get through. But if you want more drama, look elsewhere. If you want more than implications and hints, you may be disappointed.

4.5
first half was stronger
why did jo end up with this pedo old german professor? i hated him he told her to stop writing instead of imploring her to improve her writing.. what an L she should have chose Laurie so Amy wins lol
and why did Jo have to get married
i wish we had more of Beth’s POV so her death had more impact. she was always skipped over as a POV.
once meg got married she took the backpedal as a character and became more of a side character. this book would have been stronger if it was more consistent with perspectives of each sister.
i wish their grief after beth’s death was explored more. i feel like their reactions weren’t very realistic.
this is all just my critiques obviously i really enjoyed it i liked that it had so many lessons and was very slice of life. it was well written and each girl had so much distinct personality to her.
i have decided i’m probably an Amy March girl. purr
