Not one of MacLean`s best; the fact that all of them were the bad guys is not very surprising, no real revelation like his other books.

Pop Sugar Reading Challenge 2019-A book you meant to read in 2018

This book starts out very slowly. And very wordy. But at some point in time you actually do get invested and want to see what's going to happen. Not the best book. Not the worst. And, I think it's a little bit too bloodthirsty.

Twisty

It’s been a while since I’ve read this story, so it was like reading it fresh. I love the details and history that he puts in his stories, and I love the description of characters that are unique and vivid.

Though I'd never heard of it before ordering a copy from a used bookseller, I enjoyed reading "Bear Island." If you've read other MacLean books, it follows a time-honored progression, with a cool-headed hero, lots of twists, and a last chapter that explains all. You know all these elements will be there, but despite that it's not trite, just comfortingly familiar.

Film crew in the Arctic somewhere. Mysterious deaths. Bear Island. World War II. Good stuff.
