Briar Prescott

4.1 AVERAGE

Briar Prescott, I love you.

I love her writing so much, I loved the Until You series, where both books where a little more angsty, but this one was wonderfully soft.

Practice lovers is really not my thing, but I have it a try anyway and this was lovely. Both Andy and Law were adorable, I love how Law especially subverts the closeted athlete trope. He was just a ball of softness. Andy is adorable, I love his sarcastic streak and his development. The trust and friendship between them is precious. I thought Law got attracted a liiil too fast, I might have liked for him to realise he wanted Andy a bit later but also: he liked Andy right away, told him he was perfect and didn’t need to change to be just that.

I thought that Falcon was a little distant as a friend and not super perceptive to have Andy hang out with their high school gang Andy is obviously not super comfy with, but the way he reacts at the end balances that out that was great actually.

Anyway, Andy and Law soulmates and the read was lovely.

This was so much sweeter than the blurb made me expect. I appreciated how well Andy was written; his decisions were presented with so much internal logic. Law is pushy and protective while trying to do the right thing. Falcon is handled well too.

Yes, there are convenient coincidences and silly choices—
Never in the history of romance novels have people slept together without catching feelings
— but it’s an enjoyable ride

It was not original but I was entertained. Several scenes were too long. The point is made, the reader predicts and understands and waits for what is coming, so a better editor would have deleted chunks of filler to speed up.
For a 2022 production JL read good, again. Will he ever become marvelous, again?

This was my first by this author and it was sweet and fluffy and well written.

** spoiler alert ** In the end, I loved my autistic son Andy and his ever-amused husband Law, and am glad they stumbled their way into a relationship lol

Cute, fun read. Andy and Law were funny and adorable together, and just like the other Briar Prescott book I read, I was completely addicted and devoured it in a day.

I loved the premise of this story, and how Law accosted Andy in the library. I enjoyed their romance and had lots of laughs. Some of the moments were cringey and gave me a bit of secondhand embarrassment, but mostly it was a fun time.

I did think the depth of their relationship was lacking compared to the other book I’ve read by this author. I also had mixed feelings about Andy kissing Falcon in the end, but the last chapter and epilogue pulled me back in and gave me all the good feelings.

I was unfortunately not a fan of the audiobook at all. I just couldn’t vibe with one of the narrators.

Andy and Law

I loved Andy and Law so much that I could continue to read about them forever. Andy and his serious but funny personality meshed so well with Law's carefree but caring personality. I normally don't read college romances because they normally end on a happily for now but Briar Prescott fulfilled my dreams and actually gave us a happily ever after which yes I loved. I have adored both books I've read by Briar Prescott, the depth and variety of the writing is fantastic. I highly recommend this book as well as Rare.
