I read this book in one day. I got so absorbed in what would happen between Andy, Falcon (hoped nothing) and Law.
I went into this book with preconceived ideas of what I thought it would be like and I was wrong.
From the first few lines, I was loving it. Just the way Andy was written as a character and spoke about always being the side kick and being OK with that. Andy was funny, honest and sarcastic/self deprecating all in one. I was enjoying it but admittedly, I wanted to shake him a little.
Andy has feelings for his best friend since childhood, Falcon. And he decides to try to make some changes to be more attractive.
Enter stage left: Law. (Law is the hockey coach and needs Andy to tutor some of the team who are failing physics) And I don’t think I put my kindle down again until I finished!
I loved the conversations, the witty back and forth, the communication, being kind and supportive friends... not to mention chemistry, making me hot under the collar.
Absolutely bloody loved it. I waited a day before reviewing in case I was in an bit of a bubble after finishing. Nope, still feel the same. 4.5 fun stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨from me!

2.5 stars, rounded up.
There isn't really anything original about the plot. I suppose the one twist is that Law wasn't the star athlete.
I did find the narrative and the characters a little weak. There wasn't anything to differentiate the two POVs. And just when I would start to get into it, I'd get hit with an info dump, 2-5 paragraphs long... sometimes more.
It isn't specifically mentioned that Law or Falcon are gay til pretty far in. So, I was wondering if Andy was harbouring feeling for his straight BFF. And I have to assume that Andy knew Law was gay, since in their first convo, he asks if Law was hitting on him, and didn't seem to be worried that the former hockey star wasn't going to kick his ass.
I hated the epilogue, though I hate epilogues in general.
This wasn't poorly written, but I did feel like I never really connected to the story and the characters, as it all rang rather shallow.

Super cute and another awkward main character. I’m finding I really like these nerdy physics characters haha

I absolutely loved these characters and this book! Such a sweet story. It’s a quick, fun and uplifting read. Just the perfect thing for this quarantine life we’re all living right now.
The story revolves around college students Andy and Law. Andy is a physics major who sees himself as the quintessential nerd who needs to make a big change in himself if he ever wants to get his best friend Falcon to notice him in a romantic way. Law is a grad student and the assistant coach of the hockey team. Seven of his freshman players have failed physics and if they don’t pass during summer school they aren’t going to be able to play next Fall. So Law sets out to convince Andy to help him by tutoring the players. Andy isn’t interested until Law figures out that Andy has an unrequited crush on his best friend and promises to help him win Falcon over. Andy reluctantly agrees aaannddd, we can all figure out where this is going, right?!
The development of the relationship between the MCs is so nicely done. We watch Andy develop confidence and learn things about himself. We watch Law, who seems to have a pretty golden existence, struggle with family issues and career expectations. We see the way their lives begin to revolve around each other and how they both bring out the best in each other.
The ending is so wonderfully written and such a celebration of love that you can’t help but have a big AWWWW moment. Great epilogue too. It’s the perfect book for right now when we all need something low angst and high in hope and light.
**I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my objective review.**

What an absolute gem of a book, the premise isn't anything new but it's executed perfectly. Gorgeous characters, low angst, fluffy fluffyness and all wrapped up in that lush cover. Will def read this author again. Highly recommended.
Briar Prescott's debut novel is an utter joy, simply delightful and with a real warmth to it.
On the face of it, it's a new adult college romance between a jock and a nerd, but there's so much more depth.
Andy was adorable, but never made to be foolish or worthy of pity. He knows he's awkward but he's also not wallowing in the mire.
He's forthright, highly intelligent and determined to make changes.
Law on the other hand, bucks nearly all the jock stereotyping. He's struggling with family expectations, still coming to terms with the end of his ice hockey career and desperately trying to do the right thing to justify his coach's support in giving him a position on the staff.
I loved how Briar slowly worked these two from mutually beneficial acquaintances and into a solid friendship without any unnecessary angst or dramedy.
The conclusion to the major plot line also surprised me in a great way and I loved the Epilogue.
My whole experience with this book was utterly charming.

I absolutely loved this. Andy, Law and even Falcon were adorable. I loved their relationships. I’m new to this author, glad this was my first book because now I can’t wait to read more.
