The first book in one of my all-time favorite series!!!

The story is set in the future, where the world is divided into just a few countries. We follow Cinder, she lives in New Beijing, under the rule of the monarch. The empire is sick with the plague, that has been wiping out people left and right, and his son Kaito is next in line to take the throne.

There is no cure for the plague, but researchers at the royal palace are working non stop to come up with one. There is a draft, where cyborgs are “volunteers” as guinea pigs for trial cures.

Cinder is a renowned mechanic, the best in business. She is also a cyborg, and that means she had no right, treated by a second class citizen by all, and even more horridly by her stepmother. She is a servant, all her money goes to them and when one of her stepsisters gets the plague, stepmother volunteers her for the draft.

During the initial examination, the doctor figures out that she is immune, her help is invaluable. She is let go but has to come back every day, so the doctor can study her blood, or so h sais.

She first meets prince Kai, when he brings his android for her to fix. Since then they keep running into each other. Cinder likes that he treats her like any other person, however, she never told him she is a cyborg. And Kai loves having someone to talk to, especially with the new threat from Luna.

It's an amazing & unique take on the known tale. It's one of those books that you can't put down till the last page. :)

This book was really interesting and kept the suspense up. I don't know why I took out one star but I just feel it doesn't live up to it's full potential, you know?
The characters were well developed and I'm glad Meyer made the little tiny plot twists from the original tale. I like this series enough to read the next book right away. Meyer has a good writing style but it doesn't have anything special to it. No originality and stuff. But this certainly is a great read and I do recommend it to anyone who might be wanting to read it.

I finished this book in one day! That’s how good it was. However, I was under the impression that each book in the serious was a sci-fi retelling on certain fairytales, not a continuing story over a few books so that was a bit disappointed when I found that out at the end of this book. I hope that the next books are just as good and not drawn out needlessly in their plot.

This was a really clever twist on a common fairytale. I had my hesitations about Cinderella being a cyborg but this author makes it work really well. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the entire series.
