It still kind of surprises me that I like Sloane Kennedy's books as much as I do. I mean, I usually prefer lighter stuff, and Sloane Kennedy is all about the tragic backstories. But again, I like her books, I like her writing style so, of course, I liked this book as well. I just wish Dane was nicer and contributed more to the relationship. Loved Emma though. And Jax.

This is the second book in the Finding Series. The beginning of this book runs concurrent with parts at the end of Finding Home and would best be read/listened to after that book.

My biggest issue is that this is *really* short. At 4 hours ~ it's really more of a novella than a book. It was an OK story as part of the overall series arc, but on it's own, it leaves a lot to be desired. First, there were a LOT of sex scenes, good ones for sure, but it didn't allow for much story. Dane was particularly frustrating in his inability to move forward until the very end. When Jax & Dane are *finally* on the same page, the book abruptly ends.

Updated 7/21/20 for the audio: Michael Dean's narration is consistent with his other performances in the series. Dane & Jax have unique voices as do the secondary characters.

Note: While Finding is it's own series, some of the Finding characters & events are interconnected with the Escort, Barretti Security, and Protectors series. Visit Sloane Kennedy's website for a list showing how several of her series tie together and different reading/listening order options. You don't always have to be familiar with the other books to enjoy them individually, but I really enjoy the entire "world" she has created. My personal preference for reading order is chronological/timing.

I don’t know how these books are standalone! The characters are from everywhere! It’s cool when I’ve read the previous books and I know the characters, and extremely frustrating when I’ve skipped a book or two and I don’t know these side characters.

This one was kinda strange. Dane comes off confident and feisty in the previous book. Here I feel like his childhood trauma and insecurities came out of no where. His mental illness was never discussed to be treated. It sounded serious enough that he needed to seek medical help.

I was also very confused by the aggressiveness between the mc’s. They fought often or ignored each other. Lusting for each other. I don’t really get the love connection. I do and I don’t. Emma was a really nice addition here. Breaking off the tension in the book.

I don’t know. Am confused. Insta love is a hit and miss for me. And maybe I need a break from Kennedy’s books after reading 3 or 4 in a row.

I liked it alright. I love almost every character written by Sloane. There is something very human and vulnerable about them. I love when they get their happy endings. Sometimes they are predictable but still I enjoy all of them.
