I loved this book. The humor was just up my alley. If you want a taste of the author go to npr.org and check out This American Life. He does readings of his writings that you can download.

I laughed out loud multiple times. Not one of my favorites of his; he likes the French too much.

Not as funny as I’d hoped, and some of it has aged poorly. Thoroughly enjoyed the chapters on learning French, which I read while traveling in Portugal and trying to learn/understand the language so was very easy to identify with.

So unbelievably funny!! I don't think I've laughed this much while reading a book in a long time... I wish I could give it a million stars for how hilarious Sedaris is! His stories on his wacky family (sister who purposefully embarasses herself and everyone around her, a father who hides food all over the house until it rots, his sarcastic and awesome mother who I wish was my best friend) and his time living in Paris (taking french classes with an impossibly bitchy french instructor, going to the movies in Paris at east 6 times a week, never going to the Louvre or any other touristy spot) were by far, some of the best insightful, self-deprecating and hilarious essays I've ever read! I really cannot wait to read more of his stuff.

I was reading this book on the metro the other day and reached a part of the book where I started laughing so hard I had to close it. The Chileans were curiously staring at me. It's a good book to read for fun and laughs. The author grew up in NC and writes quite a bit about Raleigh.
