Dear god. I thought I just wasn’t grasping the plot but it turns out it’s just…a mess. What on earth did I just read. No one grew, the plot was too much and nothing was fleshed out. I was essentially confused for 200 pages.

I am scratching my head at this book.
Evan is such an interesting protagonist but what was this plot. What wasn't this plot.
I truly don't understand how this book passed me by because the premise? Gold. The diverse cast? Great! The world? Can totally get down with that.
This was just a collection of things happening, but I could not find a reason as for why.

It's a little awkward when you are reading a PNR and the protagonist doesn't seem to want to be romantically involved with one of their love interests. I can understand having apprehensions and not being the perfect match but I felt they were too much of a mismatch between Mimi and Evan to ever work and Evan even implied
that once Mimi is dead, Svenja and them would be happy traveling the country?? Like Mimi was just a stepping stone??? Look, I don't need you to grieve forever and never fall in love again but really could have been phrased better.

And both relationships moved at such an odd pace.
