A Thousand Naked Strangers is an unflinching, fast-paced, and often hilarious memoir that plunges readers into the gritty world of emergency medicine. Kevin Hazzard recounts his time as a paramedic in Atlanta with brutal honesty and sharp wit, painting a vivid picture of the adrenaline, absurdity, and emotional toll of life on the frontlines. His storytelling balances gallows humor with deep compassion, never shying away from the bizarre or heartbreaking. On this reread, I found myself even more struck by the moments of quiet humanity buried beneath the chaos—glimpses of connection in a job that rarely slows down. It’s a memoir that doesn’t sanitize the job, nor does it glorify it—it simply tells the truth, strange and stark as it is. Whether you’re in healthcare or just fascinated by what happens behind the flashing lights, this book delivers a compelling, unforgettable narrative.

Interesting memoir filled with little tidbits about Grady medics. Thoroughly enjoyed this, but might not be for someone not interested in how it is to be a paramedic 🤨

I picked this one because I like listening to the narrator - George Newburn. Was a good book with lots of quirky sometimes funny stories. I also liked it because i have a cousin who is a paramedic and it allowed me a peek inside her crazy hectic life and shows me why she loves it so much.
