I have never NOT rooted for the main character until now. I don't even remember how excited I felt when it was hinted that this is about Brendan with Erin in Waking Olivia's epilogue.
Brendan and Erin has got to have the messiest relationship ever. The miscommunication trope def got into my nerves that I struggled to finish reading this book. I feel like I actually understood how and/or why they're acting that way but I was just mostly clouded with how frustrated am I with them that I probably brushed off all the good things (if there are any). I mean, even Erin's family and her ex-fiancè are so frustrating.
This series might not be for me though. And this book just made me frustrated so bad it probably deserves only a star. But the bonus epilogue and Olivia and Will and their babies (!!!) made everything better and they deserve the rest of the stars.

Such an amazing book! Erin seems to have it all...great job, perfect house, fiancée....but is it all as it seems? Rob (her fiancée) works all the time, her boss is a jerk, and the house is just so big and EMPTY when Rob isn’t home. Her family always turns to her to be rescued. And then Rob’s best friend moves back to town after living abroad for years. Erin and Brendan knew each other first. Erin always felt a spark between them, but she didn’t want to mess with a manwhore. But is that who he truly is? Erin is just so tired of pleasing and helping absolutely everyone. Oh the angst!! This book was so wonderfully written, I don’t know if I can recommend it enough!!

Solid book, I just liked the one before this better. Second chance romance is just not my favorite trope
This has got to be my least favourite book by O’Roark. The writing never really hit the same spot as all of her other books. The characters, their actions and behaviour were incredibly frustrating. We don't even see a glimpse of the Erin we met in Waking Olivia, and I spent the last 100 pages just wishing she’d grow a backbone and stand up to everyone. Her relationship with Brendan would have been a lot more enjoyable to read if they communicated openly and he wasn’t forgiven so easily. Also, the dragging out of her relationship with Rob, I just found myself cringing internally every time she agreed to something she didn’t want.

Very boring and often borders on cheating. Erin has like 0 self restraint.
