My word that was a great read! And it is a lesson learnt - I should be more amenable to read authors that I’ve not read before.

Drowning Erin packed a great big punch of a story with little extras thrown in for good measure. Family troubles along with work stress and romance with a side of angst that had me worried for Erin and the choices she might make.

Faced with the choice of dependable Rob or risky, fly by the seat of his pants, Brendan who would I choose? Make me vulnerable, make me have trust issues and a whole heap of missed communication and speculation and I would have resorted to booze, ice cream, chocolate and becoming a hermit.

I was wide eyed and enthralled through it all.

*ARC provided for an honest review* Drowning Erin is a full length, stand-alone romance novel. This was my first read by author Elizabeth O'Roark. Drowning Erin is about two characters who have known each other for years and the story goes between the past and present with alternating POV's. Erin is so convinced that she knows that a certain kind of life will make her happy that she, in turn, makes herself miserable trying to fit into that mold. Brendan, on the other hand, appears to be living his dream but is buried with guilt from a past relationship. If you love angst this is the story for you! The story and characters sucked me in and I seriously could not put the book down - it gave me all the feels! I cannot wait to see what the author has in store next~

Wow! I know what it's like to lose yourself in a relationship. When your partner doesn't favor the stuff that you do, so you forget what you loved and do what they like to do.

When Erin and Brendan first meet, they have different feelings towards each other. Erin is infatuated with with Brendan. Brendan is infatuated with Erin but instead he treats her like she's nothing to him. Even those these two barely know each other, the chemistry that they have is undeniable.

Erin and Rob are engaged after meeting at an engagement party for Will and Olivia. I already didn't like Erin and Rob together. I felt like he tried way too hard to get to her/ date her.

Their is no cheating whatsoever. Erin made the decision for her. She chose her happiness over her unhappiness with Rob. i don't necessarily think that she found happiness with Brendan, but I do think that she was much happier with him. Brendan pointed out to her that she used to do adventurous activities, but since being with Rob she no longer did that.

After finishing Waking Olivia in just about one sitting, I knew I had to read the next book in the series, Drowning Erin. I'm so glad I did. It was just about as binge worthy as Waking Olivia, but had quite a bit more miscommunication, which is definitely not one of my favorite tropes.

Erin is settled and happy-ish at 26 years old. She's got a solid marketing job, that comes with a nightmare of a boss; a family, who rely on her way more than they should; and a fiance who is a good provider, buy doesn't really let her be her and thus, she's been putting off planning their wedding forever now. So when Rob the fiance is off to Amsterdam for work for a month plus, Erin is annoyed but she knows she will be fine. Until Rob says his best friend Brendan can stay in their pool house while he's gone, fully knowing he and Erin don't get along. They have a tumultuous history, having shared a few pretty passionate kisses and time spent hating one another. When Brendan is around, he starts seeing things that Erin has been hiding from Rob. Like her family, her taste in music, the things she enjoys, and more. As they spend more and more time together, the two find that they bring out the best in one another. So where do they go from here?

Like every Elizabeth O'Roark book I've read to date, there is always a deep, emotionally charged backstory to every romance. It makes the stories richer and more rewarding. I didn't love this book as much as the first, but I still ate it up.
