it wasn't 100% for me but i loved reading about her experience being half vietnamese and going to vietnam because i recognise all of the food and places mentioned and that was so exciting to me !!

i probably would've enjoyed it more if i had seen more of her stand up shows

Loved the narration. The novel take on the usual celeb memoir (writing the “book” as a series of letters to her daughters) was refreshing. There’s a bit of shitlib indulgence in the book, but that’s expected.

Ali Wong is hilarious. I love Always Be My Maybe. I’m a sucker for a good romantic comedy and that movie delivers. Randall Park and Ali Wong are great together. And Keanu Reeves. Nuff said.

This book delivers the same hilarity but with a lot more raunchiness. Ali Wong must have a butt fetish. Lol. She talks about them a lot. A LOT. I really enjoyed her frank discussion of pregnancy and motherhood. Her descriptions affirm my decision not to have children. No thank you! I’ll leave that tough job to people like Ali. She’s fearless in that regard.

There was nothing new here from her other work. But I like Ali Wong. She’s totally relatable. I love how much she talks about food (I got so hungry reading this) and I love that she also fantasizes about Idris Elba. GIRL SAME!

Her husband seems nice too.

I think I will probably take a break from reading celebrity memoirs, I'm just not having a good time with them. I decided to pick up Dear Girls because I'm actually not a big fan of Ali Wong's comedy specials that I have seen, and wanted to understand her as a person better. Props where it is deserved, her comedy is true to her! I love women empowerment and sex/body positivity just as much as the next feminist, but sometimes I find myself sounding like a stickler because there was just too much "pussy" talk in this book for me! Because this book is like a letter to her daughters, I didn't expect almost the entire book to be about sex and vaginas, but that's my own fault I think. Overall, I do very much hope her daughters enjoy reading this in the future, and it is so evident how hardworking Wong is and how much she loves her family, but this just wasn't the book for me.
