I enjoyed this raunchy look into the life of Ali Wong, as it reminds me of her stand up routines. Each chapter is written as a letter to her daughters (I really hope they never read this!). Each letter outlines a hope for her daughters, and stories that correspond with it. There are stories about her start in stand up, how she met her husband, and numerous, graphic stories about her dating life leading up to meeting her husband. She also discusses her time spent after her kids were born, and how she tries to balance her work and family life together.

If you enjoy Ali's standup, then you may enjoy this one. If you are a fade-to-black reader, then I would skip this, as this book will make you cover your eyes!

Absolutely love Ali and her humour. It’s dirty, crass and so bad ass! She’s unapologetic and why not! She’s a hard working mum with a fab story to tell...at times I laughed so hard I cried...brilliant!

It is as blunt and honest (and vulgar) as her comedy. Her letters about miscarriage, pregnancy, and motherhood were so real and relatable. Great quick read. The audiobook is read by her, which makes it even better.

Oh Ali Wong is good. Irreverent, provocative, and really really raunchy. If that seems like too much for you, don't read it and that's ok. I listened to Ali Wong narrate her memoir and I'm so glad I did. She's had a colorful life and brings a fresh perspective. And it's beautiful. Here's a woman who is willing to share her unedited truth, and it's what we need to hear. She's funny, self-effacing, and real. I loved Dear Girls - I have 3 daughters myself and not sure I'd write them such explicit letters - but here's hoping Wong's daughters forego reading their mom's advice for living your best life! But if they do read it, they may need ongoing therapy for a while!

could have been worlds better, not exactly my type of humor

Why does Ali Wong think people who are experiencing homelessness are so funny?
