Cool concept about the true nature of superheroes. David’s consciousness of his bad metaphors was a little jarring and difficult to read thru. The story and action scenes were exciting while being believable.

A bit unimaginative. Also reads like Sanderson is using all his tropes from previous books in a different setting. On top of that, this is awfully similar to The Boys (the comic books are around 7 years older).

I AM GOING TO KEEP CLICKING FIVE STARS FOREVER.
porridge bricks, people. :)

I don't think Sanderson is an author for me. I know a lot of times this would be a "it's not you, it's me" kind of thing, but no it's aaaaaaall you this time Sanderson. It's all you.

I downloaded the sample chapters on Kindle and after 3 chapters I was hooked. Bought the rest of the book on kindle which I usually don't do but I couldn't wait to until I got to the book store to find out what happened next. loved this book! highly recommend it.

Where there are villains, there will be heroes. My father's voice. Just wait. They will come.
Sometimes, son, you have to help the heroes along....

This is actually fluffier than what I expected. Some of the things I adore:
- Megan is badass and Im in love with her.
- I also adore David.
- The characters are overall engaging.
- I like the politics of their powers.

I don’t know who recommended this book to me - an anonymous local library staff person - but they now claim
the #1 position on my list of nemeses. This book doesn’t even deserve the time and thought I’ve put into writing this review. The dialogue is atrocious. The characters are boring at best and the main character is a misogynist. The worst part is the story had such potential when it comes to world building, but the singular focus on blowing shit up completely obliterated the only interesting thing about the book.
